Gems of information

This book offers gems of information on the grand and well-known sites, as well as information about places that are off the beaten track. They give detailed information about getting around by car, which is nice for non-winter travel. I do wish they would include more information about traveling by train, such as information about scenic train trips.

Fodors is the Best

Wherever I go I use Fodors guides. I just got back from Europe and Fodors found unique places, great restaurants and comfortable hotels all at reasonable (for Europe) prices. Follow the orange or black stars, you can't go wrong.

Really Good Book

When we visited Vienna this book came in very handy. It provided very good directions to all site seeing spots. It helped plan my 3.5 days in Vienna ahead of time and I was pleased with how accurate the book describes places and let's you know which areas of the site seeing spots to visit, for example which room of the museum should be seen and which room can be skipped when you don't have enough time. I did not use reviews of this book for hotels. Overall a great book to plan your Vienna trip.

Vienna

I found this guidebook well-written and useful. (I don't yet know how accurate the reviews are.) The organization of the book worked for me and it seems to devote an appropriate section to Vienna and to the other, less famous areas of Austra.

A Hefty Guide Book

Austria is bigger than you might think with a history stretching back thousands of years with varied cultures. This book does a creditable job of trying to give you information over a long span of time and for a wide breadth of peoples. I strongly recommend it before you go on a trip to this marvelous country.
