This is, in a sense, a wholly remarkable book. It’s the story of a historic and ballsy smuggling operation that crescendoed in the summer of 1975, becoming nationwide news when a pot-filled cargo plane was landed on a makeshift runway in Georgia. While the book certainly could have used a proper proofreading, and while the quoted lyrics are almost certainly unlicensed, it does tell a very interesting, very ‘American’ story. ‘Marijuana is illegal? Well, I don’t see how it’s so bad. Let’s stick it to the man and supply it ourselves.’ It’s a quick read and a fascinating look at the other side of the drug war in the ‘70s, complete with newspaper clippings and several plates of photographs.
