A classic every gardener must have With more than 600 blossoming shrubs and tree species, planting and maintenance instructions, and troubleshooting tips to prevent rust, rot mildew and other problems, no other volume has greater scope on the subject, more exquisite photographs, or easier to use lists and charts. There's information on rejuvenating overgrown shrubs, landscaping suggestions, details on propagation, and a huge, encyclopedic collection of shrub genera, varieties, and cultivars. Extensively illustrated throughout.
This is a good book to have on hand for planning a new garden. The text is well-written, informative and witty. It is not the comprehensive equal of Dirr's 'Manual of Woody Landscape Plants,'but it has color pictures and good information for gardens in zone 6 and lower. I believe the author's garden was in zone 6 or 5(?) and the book covers everything she sucessfully grew there. So, if she grew it, it's here. If she didn't grow it, check Dirr's book.
