Book Overview

Jack Schofield flew as a "coast dog," a seaplane pilot on the B.C. mid-coast area, from the 1960s until the late 1980s. The isolated floatcamps and small airports along the coast attracted adventurers and entrepreneurs and bred more than a few eccentrics. Flights of a Coast Dog chronicles Schofield's adventures and misadventures with a variety of these characters customers and coworkers -- many of them colorful, some just plain dangerous.

If you love aviation you will love this book

This book was such a pleasure to read! Full of stories of bygone times in the early days of the British Columbia aviation industry. If you enjoy aviation stories this book is for you. If you enjoy British Columbia history, this book is for you. If you enjoy both ... hang onto your hat :-)

A fascinating book - especially if you've been to the area

This book gives the reader a nice glimpse of what life is like in this remote coastal area, and also of the sense of community that is difficult to grasp if you're only passing through. And, seaplanes are just fun to read about - this book talks about many different ones for a real learning experience.
