There are many ways to describe what you see about a person. Flesh and blood holds no insurpassable bounds. We have seen much in people and can see much more. In this book, a son fights his father, a man traverses a desert, and rain becomes acidic poison, but a physical journey becomes mirrored by apposite landscapes adopted in the mind.I hope to have captured something true for any readers of these stories. They were written between the ages of 17-19, revised numerous times and rewritten. Influences are Charles Bukowski, Hemingway, Stephen King, and Samuel R. Delany. An excerpt from the book: The beast with the forked tongue tasted her sweat and tears. The others sat facing forward, immobile, indifferent to her suffering. Flames licked the edges of their chairs and desks. Their legs charred in the glow. The beast hissed into her ear, told her virulent secrets. They smile, it whispered.
