Spanish music has always influenced the classical guitar repertoire. This book defines the rhythmic, melodic and harmonic characteristics of flamenco music and explains their origins. These elements are demonstrated in the pieces for classical guitar. Among the works discussed are Federico Moreno-Torroba's *Suite castellana*, Joaqu n Rodrigo's *Concierto de Aranjuez*, Regino S inz de la Maza's *Solea* and Manuel de Falla's *Siete canciones populares espa olas*. Through an analysis of the ideal sound in flamenco, the book examines possible implications for the interpretation of these works. It becomes apparent that, on the one hand, flamenco inspired composers to create their works, whilst, on the other hand, classical guitarists influenced contemporary flamenco guitar performance practice.
