When my husband Gary needed a complex heart operation, I started to keep a diary of the days leading up the the operation and his recovery in hospital and at home. As time went on, I found writing it all down to be therapeutic. It is a very personal account of our trials and tribulations during a very difficult time. It is also a tribute to our family and friends who supported us through that time. Most of all it is a tribute to our amazing National Health Service and the doctors and nurses who took care of him.
