This is a story about unconditional love and those who have the capacity to do so. When the small jet plane he is a passenger in crashes into the Pacific Ocean a young man just weeks short of turning eighteen years old named Avery is thrust into a situation in which he must take control of his own survival and destiny. After a grueling eight days at sea he gets washed up on the beach of a tiny Island where the only grown inhabitants are four women of varying ages having been there eight years after themselves having gone through much the same experience. It quickly becomes apparent they had long ago learned they had to share all resources and he being the only male that also now included him and the outcome is predictable, but the resulting bonds and affections are something none of them might ever have imagined. Avery's intelligence coupled with his resourcefulness amaze the women and their lives are all vastly improved in other things beside gaining the intimacy they all craved after having done without for so long. Although Avery stays focused on getting them all off the Island and back to civilization, he is realistic if not becoming himself doubtful about the chance of it ever happening and typical for him begins to make long range plans and everyone is happy and thriving although none have any idea that danger is lurking just beyond the horizon which will soon culminate in a violent and horrific ending.
