Maren and Paul McCloud's combined, multi-generational family faces many challenges during the post 9-11 era, including raising two adopted children, the sudden, mysterious loss of Paul's job, his work as a doctor in Afghanistan, and their move from Colorado to the village of Dexum, Illinois.
