Originally, we had checked this book out from the library because my son wanted something to do and he liked the short blurbs on each page. Eventually, I purchased the book for him because he kept checking it out at the library over and over again. Today, he is 13 years old and he still reads this book for ideas on things to do and try. He loves the light sarcastic humor such as this blurb: "To Get Your Cat Down from a Tree... Wait. She will always come down on her own. (Have you ever seen a cat's skeleton in a tree?)" While this hint may not have been as helpful as some of the others, the book is filled with useful tips and hints that are told in simple language, with a dash of humor, that even a grown up like me has found useful. For example, I didn't know cats like cantaloupe rinds, the part most people throw away. So I tried it one night, and sure enough, my cats tore into the rind happily! While some of this is a bit dated, such as when it talks about a record album (record albums are all but obsolete anymore), there are still many great tips that are not dated, such as how to make realistic looking blood for Halloween costumes. If you have younger children, work in a child care center or church, this book has some fun craft ideas, mini-experiments, and practical and useful information geared toward children. The print is large and easy to read, the illustrations are simple but cute. Definitely worth the purchase.
