Fishing with Angels by Marc Degagne is a Christian novel about a divine traveling experience that changes the lives of two fishing buddies. Joe has kept a secret from his family for a long time, but now he is ready to share it with them. His son Finnegan has bought property by the banks of the river, where Joe experienced the power of God with his fishing partner Astor many years ago. At first, Finnegan is skeptical and thinks his father is off his medication, but the more he, his wife, and daughter hear, the more they believe Joe's extraordinary story. Joe tells them about his seemingly ordinary fishing trip that turned into an adventure through space and time. He talks about the creatures and different people he encountered, their amazing stories, and his angelic traveling companions.
Fishing with Angels explores how God protects and provides for His people and creatures. The book moves from one encounter to the next and gives profound messages about life. The author gives lessons on kindness, healing, and family values. Marc Degagne also talks about the ways of nature, how God designed everything for a purpose, and gives a powerful lesson about prayer and faith at the end. There are familiar tales, such as Red Riding Hood, interwoven into the narrative. Astor was my favorite character because he had a casual reaction to all the overwhelming things happening around them. Little details like his calm tone and the small stick in his mouth gave him a distinct personality and were a source of humor throughout the book. Joe, on the other hand, was confused, but by the end of the journey, he became more resolute. I enjoyed reading this book and recommend it to anyone who loves stories that explore the marvelous wonder of God's creation and His healing power.
