In a familiar, yet alternate universe, Tori and Patrick live quiet lives in the suburbs, until they receive a cryptic phone call from a social worker. They are summoned to meet a toddler who is apparently theirs, even though they have never met her.
Meanwhile, social unrest in their neighbourhood reaches a tipping point, and their investigations unwittingly make the situation worse. The couple are thrown into a storm of confusion as they attempt to piece together their relationships with new family, old friends and the community around them. Theirs is a story of identity, human rights and responsibilities, and above all, what it means to be a family.
