First Tracks

By Maeve Ridge

Off-Season, Book Five - the series finale. A brand-new story with a new couple, never published before under any title. It is not a new edition of an earlier book.

Ten years ago she left without a word. Now she holds the deciding vote.

Lucy Harrington left Larch Hollow at four in the morning when she was twenty-two. No note. No goodbye. Not even to the boy who kept her grandfather's chairlifts running, and waited for her at the top of the fire tower until noon.

Now she's a Manhattan lawyer, and she's back to sign her family's mountain over to a luxury developer. The signing is set for opening day in December. Her vote decides it.

But her grandfather left one last condition. Before she can sign, she has to walk every inch of Larch Mountain with its head of operations: Jonah Reyes, the man she left.

Jonah never left and never forgot. He's spent ten years telling himself it was kinder not to ask why she went. Now he's walking her over every trail where they fell in love, while the whole town races to buy the mountain before she signs.

The truth could save the mountain. It could also cost everyone she loves.
