First Rain

By Barry G. White

Another climate change has brought monsoon rains to the Dead Heart of Australia, where the fertile plains, rivers and forests of ancient times have returned.
The nation surges ahead, boosted by the wealth and technology of Americans abandoning a diminished USA. This powerful new Australia is drawn into a dangerous world of shifting alliances and emerging threats.
In central Australia, the techno-industrial city of Deep Springs stands where thin cattle once roamed the spinifex desert of the Deep Springs cattle station.
Here, a charismatic aerospace engineer and his minerologist partner lead a group of friends from university days who experiment with rare earth metals of strange and powerful qualities to develop next-generation aircraft.
A geological anomaly leads the central characters to a sacred site where they discover a 60,000- year- old image of a boomerang on a cave wall showing evidence of machinery used much earlier.
The mystery of machines older than the boomerang is revealed, but at a cruel cost.
