I love this book. It's a real page turner and I could not put it down. It's a love story that chronicles the life and loves of Brett Taylor from his childhood sweetheart to his last breath. This book gives a glimpse inside the heart of a man with the soul of a poet. The story and verse make one feel the joys and sorrows of the main character like they were your own. The book begins in the 1950s and progresses through the sexual revolution and counter-culture movements of the 1960s and 70s and how these things changed a nation. There is international intrigue and adventure as well as romance and sadness, joy and living life to the fullest. This love story is one that needs to be told over and over again. This book is not just fun to read and endearing, it is educational and contemporary. This is a book about love, the kind of love that lasts forever. I highly recommend this book. I give First Love, Last Love five stars! Dr. McShane is a reclusive Science professor at a Midwestern university. He is also a songwriter and has included a CD of his songs to act as a soundtrack for this book. The songs fit the story and all of the lyrics are included in the book. The songs on this CD are pure Americana and they speak to the heart. There is simplicity and a beauty that is uncommon in today's music. This folk/Rock sound is refreshing and full of tenderness. Trevor McShane also has a great new album called "Dizzy".
Better than Bridges of Madison County

The reviews say that this is similar to Bridges of Madison County, but I found that it was more lyrical and poetic than Waller's material.
