First Boomer... The Tale of a Life-long Hippie My Father was a professional magician and my Mother was his assistant. Life just got more interesting from there. Conceived on the night of celebration for the Japanese surrender that finally ended the Second World War, I am by definition among the very first of the Baby Boomers. Growing up, I had intended to be a fighter pilot, then have a career in the field of aeronautical engineering... up until I realized the unfortunate truth about our government. From that point on I considered myself to be part of the countercultural revolution sweeping across our country. This is my story, including time spent in the military and how it finished my conversion to the hippie culture. I traveled to the mecca of our alternative generation, San Francisco, where I met and joined a group of spiritual seekers on a caravan of over thirty brightly colored busses and vans on a journey to rediscover America, then to found the largest and most successful spiritual community to evolve from New-Age thinking right in the home of the KKK. Along the way, we will meet an interesting cast of characters, some human and some not. I helped construct and operate a traditional Tennessee backwoods still, and even had a close encounter with a glowing sphere of ball lightning. As with any story about the hippie lifestyle there will be a healthy dose of all three of the elements that have always defined hippies... sex, drugs, and rock and roll. Life has certainly been interesting so far, and I can hardly wait to see what comes next...
