Fireflies in a Mason Jar began nonchalantly as a couple poems drafted into the Notes app on an iPhone 13 in 2022 right after the release of "Fragments of the Past". Over the next year, there were a few more poems here and there but it wasn't until December 2023 when grief struck unexpectedly that the majority of the book was written.

It is to be noted that "Fireflies in a Mason Jar" started as a reflection on childhood and a grieving of innocence and rapidly turned into a grieving of a loved one after unimaginable loss. The former also remains true- the book is packed with reflections on childhood, adolescence, and present adulthood. It is a poetic navigation of relationships, trauma and mental illness.
