Fire upon the Altar: A Revival Message

The author's message both shows the need for revival in the church and gives inspiration to the reader to seek revival in his or her heart. Chapter 1 is entitled, "Padded Pews and Empty Altars." It emphasizes our need to pray. Material affluence is not the answer for our needs. We need a close relation with God, and that relation will only be developed through communing with God in prayer. The title of Chapter 2 is "This Is That?" It refers to Acts 2 where Peter proclaimed that the outpouring of the Holy Spirit that they received on the Day of Pentecost was the fulfillment of the prophecy in Joel 2:28-29. The question mark placed in this chapter title is there to challenge us to examine ourselves. Is our experience in the Holy Spirit that which Joel was prophesying about in his book? The last chapter of the book is the author's personal testimony of receiving the baptism in the Holy Spirit. The book's purpose is to place a new hunger in our hearts for more of God.
