Fire, being a real threat to nuclear safety, should receive adequate attention from the beginning of the design process throughout the life of a plant. The present guide was developed to enlarge on the general requirements given in the Code on the Safety of Nuclear Power Plants: Design, Safety Series No. 50-SG-D (Rev. 1), published in 1988.
