The toll booth on Augston's main road attracts all kinds of trouble, and Marshal Karl Von Saxe-Kline takes seriously the job of protecting the people who pass it. This is doubly true when a stranger blows by the toll booth, turns the corner, and has his throat slit. Who could have killed him within feet of Karl's guards? What did the stranger do to attract such violence? Fortunately, Karl's brother-in-law, Alfred, and his nephew, Johan, show up in time to help him investigate this death and make the road safe for everyone once more.
