Fine Woodworking's Asian-Inspired Hall Table Plan

This elegant hall table features graceful curves and exposed joinery with a distinctly Eastern flair. The top floats nearly an inch above the front and back aprons, adding a sense of lightness to the table. In contrast to the light appearance, the top is supported by a rock-solid base joined to the under-rails with double through-tenons. To increase the sense of airiness, the shoulders of the under-rails are cut away in deep curves, and the bottom edges are also curved. The 6-in. overhang at the ends adds to the illusion.
