Solid 4 stars

The latest installment in the Pet Sitter Mysteries, sends Ms. Kendra Ballantyne back to practicing law, with the guarantee that she can pick up clients involving pets at a low cost. She's got a few of those, along with another big murder to solve .... one that puts her sometimes/kinda boyfriend, Jeff, as the lead suspect. Start of a love-triangle, with the appearance of Jeff's ex-wife Amanda, who needs Jeff's PI expertise in stopping a stalker ... or should I say a love-square, since Kendra also spends some time with the new person renting out her house. Kept me guessing until the end.

Can A Blue Macaw Be A Witness?

Kendra Ballantyne is back practicing law, and she's still a pet-sitter on the side. She's asked to help on a new real estate case with her law partner, Ezra Cossner. Kendra is none too pleased. First, her specialty has become pet law, and second, Ezra is cranky. Before the case can get off the ground, Ezra is found murdered in his office. The only witness is Gigi, his blue macaw, and she's not talking. All she can say is her own name and sing "99 Bottles of Beer." When Detective Ned Noralles shows up to investigate, Kendra knows things won't be easy. But then her hunky PI boyfriend, Jeff Hubbard, becomes the number one suspect, she begins to investigate the myriad of suspects. Plus Jeff seems to be getting pretty friendly with his ex. Kendra finds her eyes wandering and they soon land on her neighbor. I love this series. Kendra is such a fun person. I like it when she's working with the various pets. I'm hoping she'll spend more time in the upcoming books in this capacity. But I do see why having her get back into law helps provide more storylines. Plus who'd want to hire a pet sitter whose clients kept dying? This is a series where you'll laugh out loud! Don't read it when you have to be quiet! I highly recommend it.

Getting Better

This is an enjoyable series, and this installment was much better than the last two. The only problem I have with the series is that it never seems like Kendra really solves anything -- she just seems to run around town accusing everyone until she finally hits on the right culprit. Looking forward to the next installment.

Much better than the others

Hi, this one was much better than her other two. Kendra can be a little bitchy at times and superior, but she comes off as more humbled in this story. Still having problems with her boyfriend. The ending is kinda rushed but otherwise it is a real cute fast cosy read! Look foward to more of Kendra and Her friends

fascinating mystery

After having her law license suspended for something she didn't do, Kendra Ballantine was able to prove her innocence and is now working at Yorrick & Associates as a partner. Yorrick, a lawyer in her old firm, hired Ezra Cossner who brought with him his profitable client list. Kendra is working with him on a case in which two clients won't sell their property to TO for them to build a multi-complex. Kendra likes working with the lawyer who underneath has a kind streak and is sometimes fair. She also adores his macaw G-igi who he keeps at the office. Someone doesn't like Ezra because Kendra finds his body one morning. A few days later, Kendra and a paralegal are talking in the office and a shot rings out killing the paralegal. The police zero in on her sometimes lover Jeff as a suspect so Kendra starts her own investigation to find the real killer and clear his name. Besides going back to work as a lawyer, Kendra keeps her pet-caring business which adds a lot of humor to this exciting who done-it. Linda O Johnston is a creative storyteller who not only writes a fascinating mystery but also creates a deep character study. Gi-Gi the macaw steals the show as she becomes the mascot of the law firm. Readers will adore her antics while applauding the heroine for caring about her and the number one suspect who she is determined to prove innocent. Harriet Klausner
