I must honestly say that I enjoyed this book. The imagination of the author is quite amazing. I kept trying to put the book down and found it extremely difficult. I just had to know what was going to happen next. Can't wait to see what Roslyn M. Wyche Hamilton comes up with next!

Posted April 10, 2010, 10:29 PM EST: In her sophomore sequel to Finding Joy in Pain, Author Roslyn M. Wyche-Hamilton continues her literary success of providing brilliant insight of African-American relationships amongst family and friends! While Joi and Jaylen remain the central characters in Finding Joy in Pain 2, Ms. Hamilton manages to keep the supporting characters and their spirits "alive" in the sequel by granting purpose to their presence. None of the characters are insignificant, since they continue to evolve, grow and continue the story line. She continues to dispel the perceived stereotypes and "expected responses/reactions" of African-Americans while placing all of the characters in situations that are realistic and familiar to anyone of any race. Her use of romance as "tension-breakers" through the drama serve as excellent backdrops and reminders to all of us that "love conquers all" in any situation! While every book has a beginning, this book has NO END!!! I read this book in 3 hours, and actually became MAD at WHERE FJIP2 ended! Rest assured, I have a feeling Finding Joy in Pain 3 is in the making... I can't wait for the TV mini-series!
