FINDING GRACE by Loretta Rothschild This is one of those books where it’s best to go into it blind. The first chapter had my jaw on the floor. It was the perfect set up for the rest of the story. Saying more would spoil the whole thing, but I will say this — Everyone handles grief, loss, and heartbreak differently. No one way is better or worse or correct. This novel explores these feelings and situations well. These characters are complex, deeply flawed and hella annoying. They make terrible decisions and I wanted to smack them, but they’re also realistic, their motives believable (somewhat) and yes, relatable on a human level. I loved the unique POV/narrative style. It was executed perfectly and didn’t miss a beat. I do feel the ending was wrapped up too neatly. I wouldn’t have minded if the last chapter was omitted entirely. In short, this was a compelling debut novel. It’s a lot of things; a character study, a twisty mystery, a creepy horror(?), a romance, and thriller. Highly recommend!
