Hello? Janet, this is Dr. Anderson. Get a pen and paper. And so began my journey through pancreatic cancer fourteen years ago. I came to realize that I had no power to impact this situation; the power was all his. The words that I have prayed all of my life became real--very real: Your will be done. The surgeon found a carcinoid tumor that was encapsulated, which means it does not cause much harm until it breaks open--then it's too late. It was then that I came to understand exactly what God's timing meant to me and my situation. An eight-hour surgery and six weeks later I was back walking, slowly down the block, and my life had changed for the better. I began to see our Lord's glory everywhere--in the landscape, in the clouds, in the birds and squirrels, even in the worms on the sidewalk. He was speaking to me in these ways every day, often many times throughout the day. I wrote down my reflections, e-mailing them to friends who knew my story. Thus, 365 reflections later, this collection became a devotional called Finding God in the Everyday. To God goes the glory!
