As the media portrays it, modern Americans live their lives as though God were not part of the picture. Yet according to polls, two out of five Americans attend church weekly and even more profess belief in God. Sharon Gallagher turns her focus on those people who are moving in and out of church attendance, telling the stories of the people who in ways both expected and unexpected have come to faith and are willing to talk about their doubts and joys, and in doing so shows us how God continues to work in the lives of people today.
Religious authors usually in order to improvize or differentiate from others make a story that is simple into a complex structured theology and also make it into some psychiartric life changing phenomenon. The parables in the Bible are simple and easy for everyone to understand. You will find the same in Sharon's book. The reason I can say that is because my conversion story is in that book. I gave the author complex facts in my life integrating my life experience with a technology outlook etc. But Sharon could write my story and relate it as a simple expression of the word of GOD spoken thru' my life to me and to others. But my story still retains the flavor of my technology outlook every bit of it. I could then understand how GOD can speak the simple truth depending on how we want to look at it (our perspective).

I couldn't put this book down! It is a compliation of touching stories that reminded me that there are others beside myself struggling through the journey of faith. This book also helped me to remember that God is working in our lives and can bring the good out of any situation, which is a much needed message, especially in light of our country and society's current status. I would recommend this book to anyone as a source of encouragement and as a reminder of God's love.
