Helpful and encouraging

This book is an honest, open exploration of the emotions experienced in the death of a loved one. It offers wise counsel and hope-filled encouragement through selected passages of Scripture that speak of God's presence and comfort in times of grief. To anyone dealing with painful loss, Gwen's biblical insights, which emerge from her own journey through pain, will help you face the daily grind of grief with a sense of purpose.

Helpful book comes along side those going through loss

I think that anyone experiencing loss due to death as well as other loses would find this book beneficial. Gwen shares openly and honestly helping the reader work through their grief and not feel alone.

Finding Comfort in God's Embrace

This book is soothing to the hurting spirit. While it deals mainly with the grief of a lost loved one, it has also been a source of encouragement as I have grieved over other losses in my life. Gwen makes you realize that grief is a healthy response to pain and is a natural part of life; and something all of us encounter at different times in our lives.

A honest, sensitive walk through grief

a vulnerable, very honest look at the journey through the valley of grief and loss. This compilation of both the author's personal experiences and others' stories is sensitively written. The space at the end of each chapter for reflection can help the reader move toward a deeper, more personal understanding of and intimacy with our compassionate, very-present God. I would recommend this book as a gift to anyone who is grieving loss, whether it be the death of a child, the pain of infertility, or the loss of a spouse either by death or divorce. L. Grieving Life's Changes

Having lost an infant many years ago, this book was confirming of our emotional journey and our spiritual struggles. However, I wanted to comment on the book in a broader sense, as it also spoke to the more recent emotional and spiritual struggle of health concerns and unemployment. Reading this book brought us new focus and strength. A friend going through a broken engagement, also read the book and gained strength and insite. The personal story of the author touches your heart with empathy and awakens your personal connection to our Creator.
