This research is being conducted in an economic context in which small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) play a crucial role in diversifying the Gabonese economy, but face persistent obstacles in accessing finance. Despite the existence of support structures, there remains a mismatch between the financing available and the real needs of SMEs. The main objective of this study is to analyse the financing mechanisms for Gabonese SMEs and propose innovative solutions to improve access to financing, with a view to promoting their sustainable growth and competitiveness. To this end, a mixed methodological approach was adopted. The results reveal a predominance of very small enterprises (43.3%) and a strong presence of companies located in the provinces (56.7%), reflecting the entrepreneurial vitality beyond Libreville. In conclusion, this research highlights the need to rethink financial intermediation tools and better structure the SME support environment.
