Very good book.

Helpful book for trying to learn Finale. Maybe more Mac specific directions would help. More depth in some areas would b e good too. Band in the Box info, for example.

Excellent current Finale reference

I've been working intensively with Finale notation software (Macintosh) for more than 15 years, composing concert band, orchestral, accompanied solos, vocal charts, and engraving for [...], and find Mark Johnson's Trailblazer Guide for Finale 2010 an excellent reference for the latest version. Understandable explanations, instructions, and plates of what the software windows look like exist in all chapters/units. Step-by-step procedures for executing particular tasks are straightforward and complete. Visual plates of software windows are from the Windows version with both Mac and Windows commands provided throughout. It's easy to find a specific function of the software that you wish to use, and the alphabetically arranged Index is very helpful. If you're using Finale 2010, this is a 'must have' hard copy reference. For users of Finale 2008 or 2009 versions, the former reference text, Finale 2008: A Trailblazer Guide by Mark Johnson is equally recommended. An great introduction to the newest version on Finale (2010) which clearly and quickly brings the reader to a working knowledge of this fine program. I highly recommend the book both for beginners and those who have had previous experience with Finale.
