Book Overview

Their submarine was on a mission to insert a SEAL team.

It was supposed to be a cakewalk.

But at 1500 feet below sea level, nothing is easy.

"This team spins a great tale." -W.E.B. Griffin, author of the bestselling Brotherhood of War series

When sub commander Jonathan Ward and his crew on the attack sub Spadefish are given the order to help a US Navy SEAL team insert into South America, it's business as usual. In, out, and the world has one less drug lord to worry about.

But at 1500 feet below sea level, there's no such thing as "simple."

The target, Juan de Santiago, is a wealthy and violent drug lord. He has a private army outfitted with the latest military tech, and his own cutting edge mini-sub that is more than a match for the Spadefish.

And Santiago has plans of his own. Backed by power-hungry rogue nations, he has the combination of firepower and military might to make himself the undisputed king of the cartels, and to put the fear of death into any enemy-even if that enemy is the United States military.

With the fate of nations at stake, it all comes down to what matters more: the power-lust of a madman willing to destroy whatever gets in his way, or the integrity and expertise of a veteran submarine commander willing to sacrifice all to save the innocent.

Drawing on decades of experience on nuclear submarines, bestselling authors Wallace and Keith present a suspense thriller perfect for fans of Tom Clancy, Rick Campbell, and Brad Thor. FROM THE AUTHORS OF THE NOVEL HUNTER KILLER, NOW A MAJOR MOTION PICTURE STARRING GERARD BUTLER AND GARY OLDMAN!

Move Over Tom Clancey

FINAL BEARING is a real page turner. Make sure you have the time to stick with this intriguing "get the bad guys" book. I'm still wondering what happened to the two trucks that got away. I liked this better than Clancey's submarine stories as the scenes are more authentic and complete in detail. I almost got sea sick reading of the influence of heavy seas upon the men. Sure would make a great movie! I'm looking forward to the next book.

An adrenaline pumping adventure

These guys know how to write a book. Their combination of writing talent and real world experience produced an adventure tale that had my heart pounding and my fingers turning the pages in anticipation. There are drug terrorists to hate, brave men to pull for, victims to fear for, and the future of our country riding on the outcome. The writing style and the authentic details give you a story world you can really experience. There are no cardboard characters here, no would-be adventurers. This is the real thing. After reading this book I feel like I've been there and done it. And I'm ready for the next mission, Commander. Just let me get myself in shape first.-- Charles Connor, Director of the Harriette Austin Writing Program, The University of Georgia.

High expectations met

I don't usually take the time to write about the books I read for pleasure, but this one got to me in a unique way. I really felt I was there, every step of the way on an adventure that surprised and thrilled me. The authors succeeded in hooking me in from the very first, then keeping my attention for the entire book, quite an accomplishment because I'm a very demanding reader of fiction. Congrats to Messers. Wallace and Keith, and I hope they write more together.

All The Action One Book Can Handle

Final Bearing, by George Wallace and Don Keith, truly is a rip-snorter! The authors packed a lot of exciting action into every page. Combining submarines and other craft with spies, drugs, and jungle warfare was a potent formula mixed up with a great air of authenticity. I hope it sells well, and I can hardly wait for the movie. But the book jacket needs a government warning: "Do not read this book if you have heart trouble!" Frank S. Virden, Captain, USN (Ret.)

Review - Final Bearing by G. Wallace

This is a good read. The plot continues through several characters to culminate into the final riviting scenes. There is enough technical information to keep the interest of those who truly understand those elements, but that same information does not interfere with the enjoyment of the story for those less technically knowledgeable. In fact, I learned a great deal of the atmosphere surrounding the lives of our brave military personel by reading this book. The story deals with the good/evil struggles of our lives here on this planet through the actions of our military and the underbelly of society from which they protect us.I do recommend this book.
