Filling the Gaps of the Middle-Length Discourses: Volume 2

Purpose of reading any Dhamma book should be to develop the right view, a view of a Stream Winner. Yet rarely, the purpose is served by available books. When the Buddha have spoken in reference to one thing and meant to say one thing, but that a person believes it was something else, the gap between a person's belief and what the Buddha has spoken or interpreted as Dhamma can make a person unable to develop the right understanding of Dhamma.

Carrying information through oral transmitting and written scripts alone can lead to loss of precise information about four stages of Nibbana in the absence of Arahants. Take someone who is an oral transmitter, or transmitter of scripts given in existing books; if they take scripts to be representing all what Buddha said and are 100% truth or teach merely by oral transmission, by the lineage of testament, by canonical authority and likewise, some of the things can be explained reasonably well, some things are poorly explained, some true, and some conflicting and untrue things. Besides, it turns up that they say things they don't know for themselves. Saying without knowing Nibbana can make generations of practitioners lost in their practice. To avoid that, it is important to understand Nibbana precisely.

To understand Nibbana one has to know precise information about four stages not just randomly picked up information that can greatly confuse people. Interpreting Dhamma as interpreted by the Buddha is the key for understanding and experiencing Nibbana. This means you need to learn to interpret and understand four stages of Nibbana out of bits and pieces of information that is scattered around in Pali Canon and similar things to make a whole of it. What is left out of Dhamma as presented in the canon are like small fragments of universal dhamma. To make it a whole, one needs to hear and learn how to fill the gaps in knowledge across stages of Nibbana. This book contributes to explaining you how you can fill the gaps of knowledge about four stages of nibbana based on existing scripts so that you can develop understanding beyond what you already know.
