Inspirational

This is the most inspirational book I've yet read about wildlife conservation. Michael Day's account of his involvement with those who fight against the poaching of tigers reads like a novel and the inclusion of his personal histry only serve to enhance the effects of what he has done, rather than detract from the story as is the case with most who choose to tell about their personal lives. He goes from a depressed, suicidal alcoholic with no drive to a radical activist in the jungles of Thailand. His story is riveting as he relates the perils of coming up against poachers. It has been ten years since I read this but it remains fresh in my memory. It will break your heart, enrage you and make you want to hop a plane to Asia to join in the fight; I challenge anyone to walk away unmoved by this book.

excellent novel to catch mass attention

A Canadian girl leant me this book when I was in Tanzania, last summer. I am very interested in environmental protection, so this kind of book could only interest me. However, I was happily surprised by the fluency of the language, the humour, and, most of all, the contents of the book. It almost convinced me to become an environmental spy! I highly recomment it to anyone in the slighest interested in the environment. It leaves much food for though concerning the possibility of a bright future for biodiversity. It presents very well the power of people and NGOs, with very interesting anecdotes. It also puts in perspective the conflict economics v. environment. Basically, it makes the reader realise what is going on in this world, and the extent of the cover-up of information. The best book I've read which stirred such response and angriness within me!
