Interesting biblical theology!

Roger Snow is a fine pastor and Bible teacher. His book "50 Ways" is a fascinating study of the intersection between Exodus and Revelation. In the process of showing that Revelation contains numerous allusions to Exodus, Snow also points out the problems with much of contemporary evangelical eschatology and hermeneutics. Readers familiar with the likes of James Jordan and David Chilton will find a lot here that feels familiar. But everyone who is interested in studying the Bible on its own terms, looking at typology, symbols, parallels, etc., will benefit from reading this book.

Are we living in the end times?

We may be living in "end times" awaiting the rapture of the Church but what is spoken of in Revelations may be more applicable to another period. Fifty ways to Leave Left Behind Compares those events in Revelation to the events that already occured in Exodus. The parallels are fairly obvious to the unbiased reader. Roger Snow has done a wonderful job spelling out these parallels and showing how the wildly popular "Left Behind" series is seriously flawed in light of these scriptures.

Left behind?

I've questioned the "left behind" position for a long time, but this book helped to push me over the edge. It is an eye-opening comparison of Exodus and Revelation. Some things are obvious such as comparing "The Lamb that was slain" in Revelation, to the Passover Lamb in Exodus, but there are other things that aren't quite so obvious, like the comparison between all of the plagues in Exodus with the seals, trumpets, and bowls in Revelation. There are at least fifty such comparisons! The most important thing, I think, is how the author makes it a point to show that Exodus is an Old Testament picture of Revelation. It is God's rescue of His people in dramatic fashion. Especially helpful to me was the question and answer section at the end of the book. As you read the book, you will definitely have some questions that you want the author to answer and I believe he does a good job answering those questions. If you have ever questioned the "left-behind" end times position, which I'm sure many of you have, then you need to read this book. If you haven't ever questioned, then you still need to read this book. I believe it can turn your viewpoint upside-down using a completely biblical approach.
