If anything is clearly taught in the pages of Scripture, and clearly seen in the history of the church, it is the importance of prayer in the life of the believer and of the church. If anything is clearly illustrated in the 21st century church in much of the Western world, it is the results of prayerlessness among God's people.Accordingly, this book was created with the goal of stimulating personal and corporate prayer by a consideration of some of the encouragements given in the Bible. It's truly amazing how many compelling reasons God has given us as His children to come to Him in prayer - and therefore more amazing that prayer is so neglected by us. In this review of Biblical reasons to pray, we begin with the fact that we are commanded to pray. We then work through prayer as a spiritual weapon, prayer as a means to know more of the Holy Spirit's influences in our lives and therefore to have more of His fruit produced within us, and close by looking at some things that may hold us back from praying.There are fifty-two reasons to pray in this volume and they have been kept short so that they can be incorporated into quiet times for our meditation. We would encourage the reader to consider each entry prayerfully (!), perhaps one a week over a period of a year, and ask God to convict you of the truth of the arguments presented and to motivate you to pray more in private, in your families and in your fellowships.
