The start is a little slow if this is the first of Leo's books you've read, but once you hit the second chapter, you're hooked. We meet Fire Fighter on Probation Donald Holden when he first starts his love affair with the Boston Fire Department. He becomes friends with a strange cast of characters in the fire department, goes through training and learns what it takes to be a firefighter, finding the one job that will enchant, puzzle and fill him with pride.
