Stories of femicides, or aspects of them, have become objects of cultural consumption--in film, literature, and even high-end women's fashion. The violent death of a woman has been marketed as a commodity aimed at other women.

Lydiette Carri n--author of La fosa de agua--explores in this book the ways in which femicides have been narrated and mythologized, becoming, at least since the second half of the twentieth century, vehicles for positioning consumer products while reinforcing stereotyped images of femininity and gendered violence.
