I firmly believe that most of us devote so little time to prayer that we spend our time petitioning God to the exclusion of fellowshipping with Him. I have no proof, no verse to point to, but I find it hard to imagine that Jesus got up early in the morning to run off dozens of petitions to the exclusion of spending quality one-on-one time with the Father. I am convinced that the foundation of Jesus' prayer life was fellowship with the Father, with our God and His God. I am also convinced that this, fellowship prayer, is the missing foundation of the prayer life of many Christians. While I have no verse regarding this aspect I have several that show Jesus spent much time in prayer with the Father, and I show verse after verse in encouraging the brethren regarding Fellowship prayer, walking in holiness, humility, the greatness of God, and being doers of the Word.
