What your mother never told you (look for the latest revision)

It took me half a century before I realized that there were federal benefits for things other than being shot or going crazy. I had a friend who went straight from Vietnam to the VA for PTSD. I was not about to go anywhere near that place for fear of stigma. Big mistake.
I learned about this information the long way around. A parking spot is set aside for veterans. Wait, I am a veteran and just did not think about it. So all of a sudden, I learned the world of discounts. To add to that was AAFES shopping. Soon, I found I could even go on base if I had a VA medical ID that had a service-connected problem. From there, I found that not only was I missing out on a fantastic medical opportunity, but I could also apply for compensation.
Well, here we are with this “Federal Benefits for Veterans, Dependents and Survivors latest Edition, Paperback.” I already knew most of the stuff in the book before buying it. However, it is nice to have something in hand, and I was amazed that, regardless of the title, the book was printed yesterday, just 20 miles away, on demand. It even smells new.
The introduction warns that this is just a reference and that things change fast. However, it is chock-full of phone numbers and websites. Even though you can use the index to go to specific information, this is one of those books that you will want to read from front to back.
You will want to read this book before falling prey to those ambulance chasers online.
Any revision is worth reading, but the latest will have the latest changes.
