Julietta Harvey was born in Greece and came to Britain as a student. She has written two highly acclaimed novels about her country's struggles in the 20th century, Familiar Wars and One Third of Paradise. She lives in Cambridge with her husband, the novelist and lecturer John Harvey.

Long-listed for the 2023 Anglo-Hellenic League's Runciman Award, given for the best book on a Greek subject.
