Fear Not I Am With You

The phrase, "Fear not!" is widely believed to occur 365 times in the Bible. While that number is exaggerated, the fact that God tells us to "Fear not!" so many times, teaches us that fear is very human and very normal. There are very scary, evil and fearful people, events and ideas which we encounter in life. There is nothing wrong in being afraid of these. We are fragile beings; there is nothing wrong in feeling afraid when we face our own mortality and weaknesses. Surprisingly, in the middle of our fears we hear God say "Fear not!" This is a bold word of God which shows us that God cares about all measure of fears. It is a word which shows us God's everlasting presence and power. It is a word which takes us on a journey of fearless living to the place where we may confidently say, "The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?"
