Fear

Permutations of fear are in every thought. It cannot be expelled from them and soothing it is often an illusion. Fear is as pervasive as purpose, and purpose guides the development of ideas. Fear and purpose are never apart, permeating each other in plans, in concepts of the past and future, in the world as a place of change, in human beings as the instruments of their manipulation. History is their story, though the purpose of history seems to elude historians, and the practice of remembering seems to calm fears. Meanwhile, these twin motivators remain constant for every living thing.

Dr. Albaugh's series, entitled Epistemology, currently lists five volumes. Fear is volume number five. He is an independent philosopher, living in Des Moines with his wife, Lynda, and their animals. They have four children. He holds a Ph.D. in philosophy and taught philosophy for many years.
