This is a collection of nine stories that I wrote while living in Mondovi, Wisconsin from 2002 to 2007. All of these stories are fiction but anyone who's read "Mondovi Strange Days," will recognize the story of Mr. Hovey ("Mr.Hovey's House) as being strongly based on a true incident that happened when we lived on Madison Street. I used the original name, Hovey, as it was just too good a name to change. So far, I haven't heard from the Hovey family but if I ever do, I will gladly change it. But the story is somewhat fiction. My husband never worked for the railroad, after all. The photograph on the cover of the book was taken by and is property of, Jake Avery, a very talented photographer who lives in Mondovi. His photography is amazing and I am truly indebted to him for letting me use this wonderful picture for the front of the book. This photograph sums up perfectly, how I picture the town when I think of it and how I felt while writing these stories. Mondovi was the perfect place to get away from the rat race and take some time to try my hand at being creative. I am truly grateful to Mondovi for that opportunity.
