Horses have been a part of humans' lives for thousands of years. They are considered to be one of the most important domesticated animals since ancient times because of how useful they have been to mankind. There is a lot of information to be learned about horses so that we can identify the different breeds. Each horse has a background and traits unique to their specific breed and knowing these characteristics helps us to identify different horses. Horses used to be bred for use in wars and they served as the humans' main transportation for a very long time. It is widely known that since mechanization has taken over, thousands of horses are still being bred today for pleasure horses, racing, agricultural work, trail riding, rodeos, and show horses.
One of the most important things to know about the horse is if it is, hot-blooded, coldblooded, or warm-blooded. Hot-blooded horses are known for being very agile, light on their feet, and high-spirited. The most famous hot-blooded horse breeds are the Arabian and Thoroughbred horses that originated from the Middle East and North Africa because they are often used for racing. Coldblooded horses are calm with a relaxed temperament making them very easy to handle. These horses originated from Northern Europe and most of them are heavy draft horses which are usually big and strong, making them good horses to use for agricultural purposes. The warm-blooded horses, are in between making them fast but very easy to handle with most having good temperaments. The American Quarter Horse is one of the most popular horse breeds that fits this category.
There are many breeds of horses all over the world, but there are some breeds that definitely stand out from the others. This is one of the reasons why they have become horse enthusiasts' favorite horse breeds.
