Founder-publisher of Fashion and a legend in the business, Bingo Marsh's grooming of John Sharkey as leading columnist runs afoul of family politics, demolishing Marsh's magazine and his alliance with... This description may be from another edition of this product.
This is one of the funniest books I've ever read. Brady's characterization of Bingo Marsh is hilarious. He is supposedly based on a real-life character, John Fairchild, former publisher of Woman's Wear Daily, but it doesn't matter. Bingo is a goofy guy. Brady also sends up pretty much all the fashion designers of the 70s and 80s, with the exception of Ralph Loren and Oscar Delorenta, who he for some reason takes it easy on. It is a light read, but also a lot of fun and I am guessing a fairly true representation of the fashion world. Brady (who now writes a celebrity column for Parade Magazine) used to work for Woman's Wear Daily, so I guess he should know. The irony of this book for me was that I found it at a Goodwill Store.
