Far From Now

Far From Now
Here is a genuinely heartwarming and, at times, tragic tale of the fight waged for survival by the British people and their military during the early years of World War II. Faced with possible annihilation, they were prepared to bugger on until the bells rang, telling the world of their victory.

Upon the pages of Far from Now, the annals of World War II come alive - detailing many of the horrors - as well as the displays of courage, strength, and sacrifice displayed by the intrepid soul of the British people and its armed forces during the early part of the conflict.

It was 1940, and Hitler wanted the British people to kneel and surrender before him. With the miraculous withdrawal of allied troops from Dunkirk, the countries of Belgium, France, Poland, and most of Northwestern Europe, including some Scandinavian countries, had or would soon capitulate to either Germany or Russia. Although they were then virtually alone through the darkest hours of the conflict, they would not submit to the madman's demands.

Countries had already fallen from the map. Thus, what were the chances of the British people's survival if they gave up the fight? They had to hold out and beat back the Nazi's demonization of their freedom and their way of life to survive. If they failed, Europe and possibly the entire world would eventually fall into another dark age.

With war raging, there is a side tale within FAR FROM NOW. A visitor from another world named simply Range, a sort of historian, arrives in an attempt to save the life of a downed RAF pilot trapped behind the enemy lines in France.

Upon Range's arrival in London, England, in 1940, his sudden and unexplained appearance caused many concerns, especially among the military. His mode of transportation is piloting a rather unique, modified Super marine Spitfire Mark IIA. Implications should dictate that he is either a German spy or a thief.

However, through a series of events, he proves he isn't a spy, but there's something strange about his arrival, his aircraft, and a peculiar photograph found in the aircraft's cockpit. The two people whose likeness is in the photo don't recall ever posing for the picture, and they have never met. Moreover, the date hand-written on the back of the image is for a future date.

Further complications arise when Range falls in love with the wife of the man he has come to save. The matter is compounded as the man's wife, Margaret, emotionally vulnerable due to the belief that her husband is dead, soon falls in love with Range.
