Family Style: Uniquely its Own

Family Style is a collection of poetry from three generations of a family. Works were collected from four different women and placed into this collection. Marie Shafer has only two offerings, as the rest were destroyed. But, they show both a depth of emotion and a level of maturity that is unequaled. Lila Shafer has only a few selections as the others were stolen upon her passing. The few that remain lay bare a soul who was both raw and full of love and compassion for everyone. Cindy Pimentel has offered us a selection that encompasses the long journey from a troubled child to a stable adult. In her poems she captures the naked emotions of youth and the wonder of discovery that leads to maturity. Teresa Shafer includes in her portion a selection of poetry that reflects the mind of a woman recovering from the traumas of life inside of a religious cult. Her works take us through the turmoil and uncertainties that come with reentry into regular society after years of indoctrination and isolation.
