The level of school dropout reflects the educational situation of a country. School dropout is a complex phenomenon that has to be understood considering a country's socioeconomic and educational context. Therefore, in developing countries, frequently adolescents quit school to work and children in school age remain out of school to take care of younger brothers and sisters. Additionally, several studies indicate that the inadequacy of our educational system to meet the capabilities and necessities of children of the poorer layers stimulates a significant number of these youngsters to drop out from school. Mental health problems are significant determinants of school dropout among children. Mental retardation (MR) is one of the most prevalent mental health disorders in developing countries.
