False Profits: A Poetic Prophetic Recount

By K.L. M.

What happens when the girl everyone misunderstands finally tells the story herself?

False Profits is a raw, lyrical, and darkly witty poetry collection tracing one woman's journey through longing, luxury, heartbreak, reinvention, and survival.

Told through six acts of confessional verse, sharp storytelling, and haunting reflection, the collection follows a girl raised on fairytale promises who grows into a woman navigating power, romance, wealth, public perception, and the complicated cost of being desired. From first love to older men, private jets to public shame, fantasy to fallout, the poems blur the line between memoir and myth-asking what we trade for safety, status, love, and freedom.

Though each of the 146 poems stand on their own, recurring characters, motifs, and moments gradually reveal a larger story beneath the surface.

At times sensual, funny, heartbreaking, and brutally self-aware, False Profits explores themes of identity, class, womanhood, scandal, grief, reinvention, and the stories we tell to survive.

Structured like a prophetic recounting of a life both lived and mythologized, this collection invites readers into a world glittering with beauty, contradiction, longing, and uncomfortable truths.

Part confession.

Part fan theory.

Part rebellion.

Some of it happened.

Some of it had to be rewritten to survive.

Some of it may exist only to keep the rumor mill fed.

You decide what's true.

For entertainment purposes only, of course.
