A collection of stories about raising a child with dyslexia and navigating a school district. If the parents in these stories had gone to litigation these stories would be documented and available publicly to those seeking the public information. Then the population most likely to read how children 'fall through the cracks' would be law students or lawyers. The least likely population to initiate the change needed to help children such as the ones in these stories. This is the point of publishing this book, so the educators, who have the power to change the system can become aware and do something about it. Rather than technical, jargon found in legal case studies, this book was meant to be a core sample of the realities of procedural and other violations that add up to a generation of children who have 'fallen through the cracks.' Parents' versions were preserved in their voices, their words are powerful because these experiences were true for them. The book is framed in one parent's journey who gathered the stories. The editor had nine contributors discuss the stories through social, emotional and academic lenses. If you have a story to share contact the editor, at farland-smith.1@osu.edu.
