One of the most important books you'll ever read

The right book at the right time. It is sad that the message of Sobonfu E. Some does not reach more people. Her message is the true message of living a purpose-driven life. Her message is deeply spiritual that does not dabble into the dogma that plague traditional western religions. Her message is about empowerment by knowing and accepting one's purpose, even if that purpose is one that you flat out deny. It is about embracing failure and using it as a stepping stone to move forward in one's life. It is about how we as a community can help one another when we fall, instead of running from and turning away those that have fallen. It's about not being stuck. It's about practicing humility and going home even when home is the last place you want to be. It is about accepting responsibility with choices we've made and even the choice we made to either stay stuck or move forward. This is a book that you keep nearby because you will refer to it when you slip along your spiritual path. Despite what is taught in our western culture, it is sometimes necessary to slip or, as the author puts it, fall out of grace so that we can acheive our true purpose. This is a book that you want to give to everyone you know that have fallen out of grace or to put in lay terms, is going through a bad time. After reading some of the meditations I had to simply pause and reflect because her message hit home with experiences that were very real to me. There are self help books that are twice the size as this book whose message gets lost in the verbiage and whose message is not one of empowerment but of guilt and oppression and how to honor a higher power that keeps you in fear and oppressed. This is simply a powerful little book and probably one of the most powerful books you'd ever read.

a promise of return

This blessed Elder writes with wisdom, sensitivity, experience and accessibility. She gifts us with medicine that is clear and present and simple, though not always easy. That is a brilliant gift - to be able to show someone the promise of return to Grace, to understand the paths to and from Grace and to better understand the stumbling blocks along the way. Iya Some helps us to understand why and where and how we fall, but equally important is her guidance for how to both handle ourselves when we fall and how to lift ourselves up once again. Her wisdom is rooted, real. It is timeless and rich. I wish I had received these words in soem great falls of my own past, but am grateful that they have arrived now. She blesses us with her words. She blesses the world by her sharing. May her sharing continue. May she be blessed in all she undertakes.

Falling Out of Grace

This book is about growth and our need to stay connected to the spiritual realm. It is quite clear that we continue to disconnect(fall out of grace) throughout our journey. The beautiful part is; the disconnection serves as a catalyst for growth and reconnection to the spiritual realm. The book is enlightening and comforting.

Compassionate and insightful

Anyone could enjoy and grow from reading this book.It helps you to see the beauty that can come out of difficult times. Sobonfu brings in real stories and helps you to embrace your life in a new way. I loved it and all of her books. Her integrity and love shines throughout all of her books.

With clarity, determination, and love Sobonfu once again blesses us with the indigenous wisdom of the Dagara people - bringing the gifts of awareness and compassion to an issue so often surrounded with pain.Sobonfu's words are like trusted guides - leading readers on a homeward journey through the fields of failure and despair, returning us to a state of grace and gratitude. This book is full of deep and meaningful wisdom distilled to its essence - a healing gift from a brilliant teacher who walks the ground between an ancient tribal culture and modern day life.
